Invisibility

I recently attended a conference on Astrobiology where topics like this were discussed.

Stray radiation is undetectable beyond about 1 light year, even by a hubble-class telescope or an Arecibo.

If ET has the technology to approach within 1 LY, they can also drop right by and check us up close and personal.
