A misleading statement...
Actually, my previous post was somewhat misleading, since it presumes that the actual purpose of government spending on social programs is to solve social problems. When you look at the real purpose of such programs, which is to permanently enslave a particular group of citizens to the Federal government, these programs can be rightly considered wildly successful.
