Yes, like so much of life it's sad but also very likely true.

We will go once. The humans back in the solar system will be the stay-at-homes, the homebodies. They will find ways to survive billions of years given that they have managed to leave Earth.

But it will be the few who leave the solar system who shall chart the future of the human species in the universe. Assuming they survive their adventure and succeed in establishing a foothold 'out there.'

If by that time it's still what you and I would call 'human'....
