There are space suit solutions for Mars, space, the Moon, and elsewhere, using existing technology. At Ames Research Center, a "hard suit" was developed. My regular link to pictures of this suit is not working, and research and specs now are almost impossible to find.
The suit was formed of a series of rigid shells, with rotating joints. It could be pressurized much higher than existing suits without losing flexibility (and the suit is much lighter and more flexible than it looks.) Big advantages:
-No prebreathing required when leaving a full-atmospheric-pressure space station or spacecraft.
-Very durable. Hard to poke a hole in.
-Can be sized for different people by simply inserting rings in various joint areas.
The project was scrapped and buried. I can't even find out what happened to all the research data.
