Taurid: I've heard that theory, yes.
It's possible, but if the Taurid meteor shower is from the Comet Encke (as believed) it would be cometary material, not asteroidal. And a low density cometary object probably couldn't have descended all the way down to 8-10 km in the atmosphere before exploding, right?
