Hello all,
Tonight, Del and I were chatting on our PC's like we often do when ISS passed by at 19:58 UT; I could film it but it's not sendable on the net. Then we went on chatting and discover it's possible for Del to send a message on my phone cell. We tested it (it only works from his PC to my phone cell (GSM)). Then I rush to Urania which is the main astronomical society in Antwerp. I find a dark enough place, there, and see something reddish cross the sky at 21:28 UT. At the moment, I thought Discovery would liftoff at 21:15 UT so it would have been too early. Then I see ISS as expected, close to Arcturus. Then I get an e-mail from Del who says the Shuttle lifted off...I'm a bit surprised, go to Urania's library, ask to consult the web and discover the launch time was 21:10 UT...Meaning the big red thing must have been the ET!!!! Finally, I see ET....And also, there was a huge meteorite, a Perseid in the sky.
It's amazing Del could ,from California, inform a guy in Belgium that the Shuttle left the ground as expected, while that guy is away from home and his PC.
Thank you Del, for sharing those moments.
It will be hard to forget this!
Regards,
Raoul
ISS ET and GSM-a most extraordinary evening
