Been away for a while; back now. I went 25 miles north of El Paso to Mac Gregor army range and parked in an empty parking lot. I only stayed for two hours, as I had things to do on Sunday. I was at first disappointed, as there were quite a few clouds to the NNE and lots of lightning off towards Alamogordo and the Sacramento Mts. But the lightning actually played counterpoint to the meteors. Sort of Meteors and Meteorology. I only counted 24 between 10PM and midnight, but saw at least a couple of nice bolides exploding like fireworks. I could hear the coyotes howling in the distance, but they did not come too close. An altogether lovely evening.
