Although I see he is now modifying his "Singularity" hypothesis to state that computers will be the driving force. His original concept was that ALL technological change would become so great and so rapid that we could not fathom what life would be like on the other side of the singularity.
I am glad to see something good from my alma mater. If I had known who Vinge was when I was a student at San Diego State in the mid 70's, my life would have been a lot different.
