Space/Science » in reply to Nemesis theory?

No...

Hi Matt -

What I am refering to is a study done by several astro-dynamicists showing that the gravitational effects caused by the passage of our solar system through the plane of our galaxy, The Milky Way, affects the relative positions of the planets, including that of their relation to our solar system's debris field. This gravitational effect, known, alone is sufficient to explain the chaotic cycle observed, with out recourse to a Nemesis-type body.

I agree with your points on Nemesis, but given the Hubble's extremely narrow field of view, I feel that those who have been working on Nemesis should be allowed to exhaust their search before resources are withdrawn. There is a difference between suspected to be mistaken and known to be mistaken.

I wish I could give you a dead citation, but it was not until well after I read their note on their paper on this gravitational effect that I realized its significance. It will be in the Cambridge Conference archives for 2001; I ask you to excuse me from digging it up for you (at least right now), as immediately I have very pressing demands on my time...

best wishes -
