I wonder if DS-1 will survive near periapsis with Comet Borrelly?

According to the info I received
on the Deep-Space-One spacecraft,
it contains no "Whipple Shield" to
help it survive the barrage of
high-velocity dust particles near
a comet's nuclei.

The DS-1 spacecraft is supposed
to attain a periapsis [closest approach]
of some 2000km [1250 miles] from
Borrelly's nucleus.
I don't think the spacecraft will survive that close approach.
