I'm glad I was proven wrong.
Deep Space-1 survived!
It must have taken quite a battering...
yet it came through.
And that inspite of a lack of a "Whipple Shield" on the spacecraft.
The fact that it managed to survive, is a credit to the American designers of this plucky little spacecraft.
"I thought the DS1 would not survive the flyby!"
I was wrong. I'm glad I was wrong.
In a way, it should serve as excellent symbolism for "American resilience, in
terrible times like these".
American can bounce back, and survive,
liker that durable little spacecraft: DS1.
