Glider Launcher
For those who spent too long playing with the computer program "life", you will immediately notice the resemblance between the dunes as the travelling wave entities called "gliders" and the launcher - a self sustaining entity that generates and launches gliders in a regular stream.
Of course, the physics of dune formation is in some ways analagous to the algorithms underying "Life" and dunes ARE created in semi-regular sets.
