Re: Selling space...

"What do you think? Does it say anything new, or just restate a long-known problem?"
I don't know- it doesn't seem very helpful. I don't think the key to the problem is poor promotion/ad campaign.
What is needed mainly is access to space.
Lower launch costs is mostly about increasing access by more and different players.
The same way to state this problem [with private sector investing in space] is that the threshold cost of investing is very high.
Suppose the cost of leaving your town was 100k- this isn't including travel or hotel, this is simply the cost of being allowed to leave the town. How many people are going to leave your town?
Now imagine what the added costs of travel and hotel in this "environment".
Add in some real barriers like cliffs and big rivers to cross. No one is going anywhere. This is the basic problem.
Whether the government is leaving town or there are sexy babes somewhere, it's fairly irrelevent.
