We should get some good info. from the Deep Impact mission...

Hello,
The Deep Impact mission is scheduled to lift on Jan. 2nd 2004. It will fire a 350 kg impactor into comet Tempel 1 and produce a crater approx. the size of a football field 7 stories deep. The data concerning the comet will be very interesting but so will the data on how to fire (targeting, trajectory, etc) an impactor into a comet/potential asteroid for possible future defense of the earth.
