The moon.

I think I understand what you're getting at, S-M....
(1) You should grow food in a space habitat to not only feed the inhabitants, but to provide natural environmental control: generate oxygen,
absorb CO2.
(2) Plant materials or plant 'waste', like plant leaves, corn stocks or grain stems, can have their cellulose fibers, easily converted into a whole variety of useful products: paper, cloth fabric, cellophane, laxatives, abrasives, synthetic wood, etc...
(3) Plant starch, not intitially used or required for food, can be chemically and or physically converted into sugar, paste, glue, animal feed, paint gel or immoliant, alcohol, plastics, etc...
(4) Plant or animal oils {like peanut
oil, corn oil, fish oil) can be filtered, chemically altered, or distilled into products like lubricants, soaps, medicines, even fuels, etc...

In space, you will need all these products and byproducts.
Grow the "green stuff" inside lunar habitats, I say, and turn the waste
into those useful products mentioned.
