Moore's Law
Moore's Law is a result primarily of the increased density and reduced power consumption of transistors on a chip. As far as I know, the efficiency of solar cells, which although semiconductor in nature do not benefit from simple miniaturization, has not increased at such a great rate as Moore's Law would predict.
