Re: HST and VLT
I'm reading articles about what the VLT can do, compared to the HST. This is very very tough competition for the HST.
True, the HST is providing us with fantastic pictures and is increasing our knowledge of what's out there to a considerable scale.
But now, much cheaper (relatively speaking) terrestrial telescopes can do an even better job in more and more of HST's domain.
Maybe this is what would make NASA decide on HST's future. (Like sticking to the things only space telescopes can do).
