Oh Canada!

I imagine that a rocky planet orbiting such a celestial body at that distance might be a rather gloomy place to live, no matter how warm it may be at the surface.

A bit like Canada in the winter, eh?

I believe that current biology & physics allows for many "wierd" situations where life MAY thrive. In contrast, I think that environments we would deem "Earthlike" are very very rare. This is not Star Drek universe full of O2 planets with continents, liquid water oceans and "animals".
