Solar technology and other "green" tech will help a little, but it will not solve our energy problems. But the same can be said for drilling in the US, or in US waters. Both are convenient excuses to avoid the sad truth: barring some new magic tech, like fusion, we will be depending on nuclear and coal and imported petroleum for our energy needs for the forseeable future. Our best bet is to concentrate on conservation.
