Re: A beauty

Hi Stephen,
Through the PC, with a webcam and using the automatic lighting, Jupiter appears saturated in full white. While Jupiter is dimmer than the Moon, it is much brighter than Saturn. I'm not sure by how much Jupiter's brilliance was dimmed but it was (if only to be able to see the equatorial bands) and thus so was the Moon. Bruno certainly didn't have the time between the moment the picture was taken and the moment it was inserted in his website, to treat it.

What is shows is that there are many astronomical events that take a short time and that the Moon, seen through a scope, really moves very fast! One full Moon diameter in one hour, in the sky! And yes, with a satellite like Triana, it could have been very impressive, indeed. But then, a telescope must be installed and follow it at a precise moment. It so turns out that since late last year and for several months, the Moon's path in the sky matches the ecliptic plan very closely.
