You never were able to see images on the old zone, were you? Now this. Seems to me it is your browser. Specifically, your security settings. Do you have access to those? Are they set super high? The comments and editors need to open a small window in the frame, and perhaps your browser is blocking their scripting?
I'll bring it up on geek, see if anyone has a suggestion.
