I'd guess JavaScript too. Clicking the title triggers a script that loads the message body. No script, no message body.
The logic of this UI is flawed in other ways too. I'm currently redoing it so that it'll continue to work even with JavaScript off; instead of loading the body text when you click the title, you'll just go to the single-post detail page.
