lunar video archived?

I was watching NASATV this morning, and they were showing a film about the Apollo 16 mission. All the video from the surface looked terrible. I suspect it is just because this is an old film and the transfer of the video to film wasn’t well done, and it is an old film that has not been well preserved.

That got me to wonder if NASA is protecting all the video they got from the lunar explorations. Have they archived it in a safe way? I would hope they would have by now preserved it all on a digital optical storage system that is supposed to last at least 100 years. It would be a shame if it were lost due to neglect. Then we would have less to counter the jerks that try to make the public believe it was a hoax.
