HST question
Hello,
It looks like only the FOC will be replaced (among the scientific instruments), giving room for the Advanced Camera for Surveys.
What I don't quite get is the fact that COSTAR is still inside the HST and will remain so.
However, all the instruments were completed long after we knew about the main mirror's flaw. I thought those instruments didn't need the corrective capabilities of the COSTAR as they would heve been built within them. So, are there still other instruments that require the COSTAR? I thought only the FOC needed COSTAR.
