13 March 2002: White House Mysteriously Backs Out of Bolden Nomination
Editor's note: According to NASA sources the White House pulled the plug on Bolden's nomination at the last moment. No reason has been given. Bolden was scheduled to have his confirmation hearing today. NASA will be issuing a formal statement shortly. More to follow.

Editor's rant: I was thoroughly disappointed to hear that the White House had pulled Charlie Bolden's nomination. Actually, I am rather angry. Word of Bolden's nomination made a lot of people inside and outside the agency (including me) VERY happy. He is among the best that NASA has ever produced and would have been a sterling asset. The last minute, awkward, and amateurish way in which the White House pulled his nomination makes one wonder if they really care about the agency and what it represents.

Congress is not at all happy.
