I got your message off the pinboard but never had a chance to phone back.
The week was complicated by the AGU releasing a piece about our (Tanaka, Me, and the gang) latest paper discussing CO2 vs H2O in magma-volatile interactions on Mars. I spent several days doing publicity, including some trans-Pacific radio interviews.
All went well. The set-up fist fight on Friday actually was quite restrained. One of the later speakers dropped out so we had time for a 10-minute impromptu discussion between CO2 proponents and opponents. Several audience members expressed their appreciation of a real scientific debate without any name-calling.
On Thurday, Don Musselwhite and myself played tag-team baiting of "Blue Mars" speakers on the topic of recent gullies. Went well, although we puzzled the audience by also disagreeing with each other about the details.
All in all, a good meeting, and I have several things to follow-up on.
