As for Dan's post below, the thought of iron draining to the core is interesting.
Sounds like a smelting process, molten metal on the bottom of the pot and slag (Earth's crust) on the top.
Assuming that gravity and density caused this concentration of iron, what is the possibility of a pure Au sub-core?
