Actually, a little aeroarchology might come in handy too. One coould also tell a WHOLE lot more about Mars' domes, 'dark' streaks that may be black/blue/green/wet red/butterscotch MOC avg/ or even teeming with purple people eaters. However, finally having a good TRUE (RGB) COLOR camera in orbit to show us the color of Mars to the human eye from orbit; has not seemed to be enough incentive for the NASA/Jokey Pokey Liars (JPL) to fulfill their previous promise to 'just get the data out there' when it comes to full color images of the surface. Whether its the seeps, Arthur Clarke's Bunyan Trees, the South Polar Microbiological Spots, the 'Spiders' and yes even Cydonia; it seems all we are still getting is much more of the same old Monica Mars ( In Black n White [HBO]).
While a NEW promise of an image a 'weekday' is certainly nice ( if kept throughout the mission ); releasing the IMG or IMQ data would enable others to do what they say they have no time for. We could also be seeing the MOC 6 month policy being kept about the April 2001 Face Anicllary Data release; but alas that is also another broken promise by the Pokers in Passadena.
We had though Odyssey and the involvement with the Univ of Az would get the 'politics' of Mars out of its exploration and presentation to the public. We were wrong. Although Dr. Christensen is certainly more open, for the moment, than Dr. Mikey; more could be done. Like at least ONE ( 1 ) FULL TRUE COLOR image of the surface, at ANY long and lat. Although imaging something 'interesting' to the public at large [ as PROMISED ] would be most certainly appreciated. I'm not holding my breath.
Think out there act down here...NOW! Have YOU?
Let's taunt a Billionaire to Mars ! ! ! Beats Begging.
Give a High School kid a reason to care...a spacewalk!
Teach 'em a lesson in teamwork.
Teach 'em a lesson in humanity.
