Re: Moon hopes

Raoul have you read all that stuff?
I've read some of it before, but can't "handle" trying to read all of it.
As far as going to the Moon, Marcus Lindroos has a bit, which has ideas of how I think it could be done:

I would say my ideas about how NASA should go to the Moon has changed a little bit. Recently I've been thinking of whether the L-points should or should not be used in a NASA manned mission to determine if there is minable deposits on the Moon. The problem boils down to open cockpit and relatively long travel from Earth/Moon L-1 to lunar suface.
Now, the L-point isn't actually one single point in space, but a point with a fairly large region of space. Plus you have the ability with modest delta-v to get from one L-point to another. So say in a transition from Earth/Moon L-1 to L-2, you could get fairly close to the Moon (though perhaps this would be a trajectory which require more delta-v than other routes).
Also when you first go to L-1 or 2 you will closely approach the Moon.
Hmm, so on the leg in, the crew could get into (onto:) the lander, burn and separate from one stage and then lands the open cockpit lander on lunar surface. Meanwhile SM burns so as to enter a trajectory that get it to one of L-points (or a highly elliptical orbit, which then can go to the L-points). On leg up, SM could transitting between L-1 and 2 and return vehicle would meet it in this transition, then from L-1 or 2 via the Moon to Earth.
Ok, seems like solved that problem.
