Will ISS ever be "finished"...

I hope not.

I would like to see the current core of ISS still in orbit in 100 or 1000 years, heavily cannibalised, and perhaps enclosed in a "museum" bubble.

ISS should not be a "footprint" that we make and then step back and admire. It should be our Tonka toy or meccano set that we build and extend and tear down and rebuild...

...And reboost and inject to higher, more stable orbits, as the capability of the "Shuttle-of-the-day" improves.

One day, there will be a ring of man-made material in orbit around the Earth, and a tiny piece of it will be the ISS.

(But there is also a downside, and I reserve the right to spout about that one day!)
