Hey Kim, if you're still around...
I saw IMAX's Space Station 3D last night aat the IMAX here in Sacramento. They showed some Shuttle processing going on (appeared to be circa '98/'99), and was wondering if you were around during any of the filming.
Boy, in IMAX 3D, I don't think there's any way to feel "more there" without really going! It was SPECTACULAR!!! I kept feeling like I was going to have to move out of the astro/cosomnauts' way as they floated around inside and outside the ISS and Shuttle!!
Several things to note, however. I was suprised at how dim the interior of the ISS is most of the time. They seem to have spot and flourescent lights placed throughout, but I always expected the interior to be more lit up than what it appeared to be.
Also, It seemed much more quiet than what we hear about. Even the Russian modules seemed to be rather quiet: you could easily hear background human-made sounds/talking/music, but there appeared to be very little mechanical sound. I expected to hear a whorl of fans and motors running, but that did not appear to be the case.
Anyway, if any of you happen to have a local IMAX that is showing Space Station 3D, GO SEE IT! It was just absolutely phenomenal!
Adentes fortuna juvat,
