The services that are experiencing financial trouble are the big organisations that thought they would make money by grabbing everything net-related and funnelling it into one big lump. This model is showing real problems with customer opposition to the commercial overprint.

It may well fold, but the net will remain as a set of small private things that people do all for themselves.

I maintain web pages at my own expense and allow people to view them for free, without ads. Many other people and organisations do, too.

I pay to use the internet to view other people's sites.

Everything gets paid for, nobody gets rich, and the Net continues...
