Salt

Hi Alex

I don't know much about mars but I’ve wondered about the presence of salt on mars. If mars had oceans like earth, which this topography map seems to suggest, then could we assume they were salt water and if so, whatever cause the disappearance of water probably left the salt behind. If the assumption is correct then shouldn't there be higher concentrations of salt (chlorine) in the basins on mars?

The article said chlorine was found but stated that its presence was due to erosion giving evidence of moving water.

Where did the water go is a common question.
I wish someone would answer- where could the water have gone?
