Be fair.

A pup's ponderings.

I don't think the average Merkan or reporter is all that impressed with finding water on Mars. Sort of a "Well, that and $200 billion will get you a cup of coffee".

The suggestion that there was evidence of life on Mars in the meteorites was far sexier, got far more coverage. That seemed to stimulate public interest.

And then came the cost for some of the sensationalistic stories. That's paid when the counter-arguments come along, and folks read that the "evidence" is not conclusive, not even indicative. I believe they feel duped, and get kind of jaded. I think that happens with the press, too.

Kind of a "cry wolf".

While water is interesting to you and me, it doesn't seem sexy, unusual, and the implications of it have been heard before. And besides, I've got water, you've got water, why shouldn't Mars have water?

That's what I suspect, anyway.
