Space/Science

I'm almost envious of those livng in Hawaii, California, Mexico this coming Monday...

...due to the fact that you will get to see [weather permitting] an excellent solar eclipse.
Not a total solar eclipse, mind you, but in San Francisco for example, you should get 72 percent totality. Not bad. You'll get an excellent celestial show, Tom, if the weather cooperates.
How's the weather forecast for the SF area this coming Monday, Tom?

I'm not quite envious of you West-Coasters, mind you, since I've seen an annular solar-eclipse of about 80-90 percent totality in Toronto back in May/1994, so I know what you'll experience,Tom.
Here's what you should expect with 72 percent totality: The sky
will turn a dusky, unearthly grayish-blue, casting a weird pall over
everything....
Hmmmm!... I wonder how many aging female hippies in San Francisco, viewing that awesome celestial sight, will flip out and run down the streets naked, yelling, "they're here!"?

cheers.
