There was 1 triton sub and its been out of commision for quiet a while. You loopy story person might have been on a Trident sub and worked in the radio room. btw I've had a 1st hand experience similiar to your loopy persons but it was in the 1980's where some other boomers (ballistic missle subs) were raised to heightened alertfor some reason it sure did have 1 junior weapons officer acting a bit tense.
