We need a modern day Manhattan Project.
The problem is, we have far too many short sighted politicians. ITER is expected to cost around $5 billion dollars and is sponcered by most of the G8 countries, but it was almost canceled because many felt it costed too much. If the richest most advanced nations on Earth can't afford $5 billion dollars for something that would change the world forever, then something is very wrong. The only reason we don't have fusion now is because we haven't even been spending peanuts on it.
Instead of having it "ten years from now, we could and should of had it ten years ago.
