Trifid Nebula (Herbig-Haro Jet)

Students in Vancouver were asked to submit proposals as to why the Gemini Observatory should focus on and take a picture (image) of their favorite "heavenly" object.
It was 13 year old Ingrid who suggested the Trifid Nebula and started a curious and unique chain of events.
I won't ruin the ending for ya - it's a good one.
