MOST could be lightly modified to fly as a ultra-cheap asteroid mission (see http://crafti.css.ca , a summary of the CSA-funded study of just such a project); but instead of rewarding the CRAFTI team for their ingenuity in putting together a good $25m science concept, the Canadian Space Agency seems determined to waste a fortune trying to fly another redundant Mars mission. Pity.
