Speaking of the Viking Landers. I wonder what their future holds. Will they sit on Mars until the end of time, undisturbed?

I envision them being visited by humans. They might even make the whole site a Park (I think this will also be true of the Moon landing sites on the Moon). Perhaps one or both of the Landers will be returned to the Earth and placed in the Smithsonian. Or maybe there will be a Mars equivalent of the Smithsonian.

If Mars is ever terraformed, the Viking sites will be under water, so will the pathfinder site. Perhaps the probes would be move in such a case. The Twin Peaks islands would be a great place for a Pathfinder historical marker.
