NRC decadal survey - New priorities!

<This was in my email from 7/19. Apparently Arthur has been having some difficulty posting. I emailed Robert to see if he could help the guy out. The info he was trying to post is below.

Sorry about the delay, Arthur,

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned here yet. Last week the National Research Council released the Solar System Exploration report:

The following missions were selected as priorities for NASA's "New Frontiers" program (1 launch expected every 2-3 years):

1. Kuiper Belt-Pluto Explorer (KBP)
2. South Pole Aitken Basin Sample Return (SPA-SR)
3. Jupiter Polar Orbiter with Probes (JPOP)
4. Venus In Situ Explorer (VISE)
5. Comet Surface Sample Return (CSSR)

Lots of other good recommendations too. The one I'm excited about is the SPA-SR mission - finally a substantive mission to the Moon just on the horizon! There was a proposal submitted to NASA's cheaper "Discovery" program to do such a mission - in New Frontiers they should be able to do a lot more.

The Planetary Society has a good summary of the report (they participated in the public survey part):
