We need to own space so we can protect ourselves
We have MANY reasons to own our solar system, but we need to develop the capability to manage it. We are just transient if we dont learn to do what needs to be done... history proves civilization /higher life is easily destroyed, we have been lucky to have had peace long enough to become what we have we can now secure that with our technology... and we should!
I think we will, statistically we have plenty of time, but given the risk we should start now
