At that time I worked at Hughes Aircraft, the builder of the Surveyors, and when they brought back the Surveyor 3 camera on Apollo 12 they disassembled it in the lab next to where I worked. Unfortunately I had nothing to do with it and was not allowed in there, but just being next door then was an enough for me.
