Cool C-130 vid

Hiya everyone.

Here's a really cool short vid (about a 2.6 meg download, so most 56k-ers should be able to download it) of a C-130 shooting off it's flares.

http://us.share.geocities.com/mrpexx/mju10s.mpg

The flares are MJU-10s, are about 6 inches by 6 inches by about 9 inches in size and weight about 6 or 7 pounds each. I used to build these things when I was in the Air Force.

At the open house airshow we had in Guam back in '94, we had the C-130 that evacuated the Marines in Beruit in the early 80s incident. I had my video camera with me, and since I had a line badge (I worked on the flight line) and was in uniform, I was able to cross the ropes and get a little closer than most people during the flybys.

The C-130 did several low and slows, and as I was taping what I thought was going to be the last fly-by, the announcer said something indistinguishable over the com. What I didn't hear him announce was that the C-130 was going to do a flare run! So, with me standing no more than 1,000 feet from the 130 as it passed, it started shooting off flares. Got the whole thing on tape, and MAN, it's still a bad ass thing to see!
