Yep!
That large rocket booster that you can see for a mile or so on your approach to Huntsville, Alabama is indeed a "gutted"
Saturn rocket. A Saturn 1B, not the more powerful Saturn 5 [moon rocket].
The Saturn 1B was only used five times to send humans into space.
Three times to Skylab.
Once to a rendezvous with the Soviets.
And once as the first manned Apollo mission [Apollo 7].
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Though the Saturn 1B is obviously smaller than the Saturn 5, the "empty shell" of the Saturn 1B that I saw was quite impressive enough for me.
By the way, FrankC, I found Huntsville, Alabama quite pretty, what
with the southern Appalachian mountain ridges off to the east. I wouldn't mind living there.
And those nearby Alabama rivers flowing by Muscle Shoals and Decatur are...mighty impressive too.

You are right, Frank!
