Those commercial 'vomit comets'.

OK!

Vacation over; back to this space forum.

My topic involves those Russian, and one
American, commercial jet aircraft that
are now being used by "paying customers" interested in space travel.
They get only a maximum of 25 seconds
of 'zero-g' per parabolic dive.
The reason?
Simple!
25sec x 9.8m/s^2 = 245 m/s.
At 245 m/s [almost 550mph]
you're getting too close to trans-sonic
speeds for the airframe involved.

Also! When you, the paying customer,
pay $10,000 a flight for a SMALL NUMBER of repeated 25 second
zero-g moments, and the the 2-g pull-outs, it really isn't a bargain.
I'm not mentioning frequent bouts of nausea suffered by many.

Why not have those same companies
involved [SPACE ADVENTURES, INC, etc...] offer 1/6th-g parabolic dives, as well as zero-g moments, to "paying
customers"?
It'll be easier on the wallets, and on the
stomachs.
A parabolic dive offering 1/6th-g lasts
upto 150 seconds.
So for 2.5 minutes, you can experience
lunar gravity conditions that are probably
more pleasant to your inner-ear than zero-g dives.
