I thought...

"Electrons usually travel at about two-thirds of light speed in wires, slowed down as they bump into atoms. Hache says it may be possible to send usable electrical signals to near light speed."

I thought this was already possible with superconductors. As I understood it, a superconductor's atoms aligned to form unblocked "tunnels" or "raceways", allowing the electrons to flow collison free between atoms, hence the negligable heat, voltage drop, and higher speeds.

BTW, anyone know the current "high" temp record for superconductivity? Last thing I heard, there was a YCB ceramic that was superconducting over -100f, but that was about 2 years ago, I think.
