Militarization of space aside cheap access to space for the masses, if you can follow the logic of my website, will never happen. So saying we'll never see space is not a cause for upset. Of course militarization of space, ie. spy satellites, ICBMs, GPS, telecommunications, THAT'S already happened. I wouldn't expect much more military equipment in space than is already there.
You see, there is definite reason to pursue peace through "due process", even with enemies like Saddam Hussein, because eventually their technical sophistication will equal ours. Why? Because there is an absolute limit to technical sophistication. Carl Sagan once said "Any sufficiently advanced technology will appear as magic." In my opinion that is not true since magic is not possible. You can only work within the constraints of natural laws, just as the people who live in countries like Iraq can only work within the constraints of their national laws.
Totalitarianism is what rules Iraq, China, and a host of other countries worldwide. If you can't effect democratization of China, you will never beat totalitarianism. China has proven that totalitarianism will exist no matter how high the level of technology is. Iraq is just a small example of the same national socialist constraints, in fact a trivial example.
THE WORLD'S REMAINING POLITICAL DICTATORSHIPS
The following lists includes all countries and related territories which have been rated Not Free by the democracy watchdog, Freedom House. This organization uses wide ranging criteria to evaluate (1) political rights and (2) civil liberties. The scale for both is 1 to 7 with the latter being the worst. The first list is of the most repressive nations on earth, those rated 7,7 Not Free, for 2000-2001. The second list is of all other nations and territories rated not free. Regarding these designations, a qualification is in order. Freedom House’s other overall ratings are Partly Free and Free. Some nations which are rated partly free can also be regarded as functioning dictatorships, such as Malaysia.
