Maybe your dreams are too small? :-)
Rama was conceived as a pretty large thing. If one of those died en-route and got battered for a few hundred million years, it might look a lot like Kleopatra - Metallic surface, incredibly low density (hollow). Especially if it was produced by blow-forming an original natural metallic asteroid.
