I was checking out Boeing's web site for internships and got off on one of those tangential browsing sessions... lookie what I found...
"Right-sized" for optimum fuel offload and range, the 767 Tanker/Transport is the perfect solution to meet the air-refueling and transport needs for military services around the globe. Incorporating proven Boeing air-refueling technology and sharing commonality with more than 800 767 aircraft already in commercial and military use, the 767 Tanker/Transport offers low risk and low total ownership costs, while delivering maximum operational flexibility and performance.
I haven't heard about this one yet! Jeepers, if they turned it into a 767-400ER Tanker, they could launch a refueling mission from about 3,000 miles away (of course, without having to launch a tanker to refuel the first tanker, but that's re-DUH-dent...)!
I wonder if they're going to develope the ability to siphon off fuel from its air to air refueling tanks. I know the 135s can't (as of when I got out in 96), and don't think the 10s can either...
